Fulton County Senior Services to Host Memorial Program In Memory of Senior Advocate Helene S. Mills Friday, September 17, 2021

It is with great sadness that the Fulton County Department of Senior Services announces the passing of Mrs. Helene S. Mills, life-long resident of the Old Fourth Ward and a dedicated advocate for seniors. In honor of her memory, Fulton County’s Senior Services will host a Memorial Program on Friday, September 17, 2021, 5 p.m. at the Helene S. Mills Senior Multipurpose Facility. 

Fulton County’s Helene S. Mills Senior Multipurpose Facility is named for the late community activist, and serves as a focal point in the community to enrich the minds, bodies, and spirits of independent seniors, age 55 and older.  Mrs. Mills was instrumental in the development of diverse services for Fulton County seniors and their families.

“The mark that Mrs. Mills left on those who loved her, our program participants, and many members of the community is indelible,” stated Ladisa Onyiliogwu, Director.

The Helene S. Mills Memorial Program will be listed as follows:

  • Opening Remarks – Sonia Foster, Facility Manager, Helene S. Mills Senior Multipurpose Facility
  • Prayer of Remembrance – Rev. Dr. Joseph L. Crawford, Retired Pastor, Fort Street United Methodist Church
  • “Herstory” – Doris Johnson
  • Proclamation – The Honorable Fulton County Commission Vice Chair Natalie Hall, District 4
  • Invitation for Tributes/Remarks – Callie Williams
  • “The Journey” – Poem written by Ms. Mills read by Susan Cowser-Bailey
